I just wanted to thank Dr. Sakakeeny for her kindness and compassion towards myself and my sweet dog Bailey.Written by Kim Maiorana | Framingham, MA Hospital: Boston West Veterinary Emergency and Specialty

I brought my dog, Bailey (black and white rat terrier), in as an emergency because he was not walking right and favoring his right leg, and crying a lot. He had been to my personal vet 3 IMG_0444weeks ago for not being able to hold food down for more than 3 days and has had intermittent issues with his right front leg. He has been consistently losing weight over the past 2 months. We assumed maybe it was the progression of his Cushings Disease. We saw Dr. Katie Sakakeeny and she was wonderful in explaining everything to us and what options we had. I had been thinking, earlier that day, that this might be the last day for Bailey. He seemed like he was in a lot of pain and very disoriented. Dr. Sakakeeny helped me to make the decision to PTS, which I feel was the right thing to do given his age and the various issues he had been having the past few months. She was so compassionate and understanding. She did not make me feel rushed and gave me time to think about what I wanted to do. I opted to have him PTS and I wanted to be with him while he passed. Dr. Sakakeeny was wonderful through the whole process and explained what we could expect from Bailey being PTS. It was so hard to let my precious baby go, but Dr. Sakakeeny made it easier and also confirmed that she felt we made the right decision and supported our decision to PTS. The entire staff was wonderful to us including the front reception desk, as well as the vet tech that came in for the initial consult. I just wanted to thank Dr. Sakakeeny for her kindness and compassion towards myself and my sweet dog Bailey. For letting me spend as much time as I wanted with him before he passed. It made a heart wrenching process a bit easier. Thank you for handling Bailey with care and compassion. I am so grateful he passed so quietly.
