Going the Extra Mile to Provide Comfort for our Loved One’s PassingWritten by Karen | Newburyport, MA Hospital: Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital

Greta, 13 years youngWe knew our little girl almost 13 years ‘young’, Greta, was on borrowed time. We just didn’t appreciate how little of it was left. In the early morning hours of Friday 11/8, we realized we could not hold on to her any longer, it was not fair to her, it would compromise the love we had for one another.

When we arrived at Port City, Dr. Kristin Maclauchlan and Dr. Jennifer Noll lead us through the painful, tearful, choked up process with the utmost care and respect. When you look down at your pet and realize you hold the power to decide life or passing, you wonder am I making the right decision? What’s going thru your best friends mind? We were struck by it is time, thank you for a Life Well Lived. We cannot thank the staff and Port City Hospital for helping us experience a passing of a loved one with grace and comfort. Kristin put Greta’s paw print in a clay form for us to take home, and we received a heartful card from Jennifer with Greta’s print on the cover. We will cherish memories and those happy moments Greta brought to our lives.
