Elaine Ferrera received her Associate of Science from Mount Ida College where she studied Veterinary Technology. Upon completion of her degree in May of 1991 she became a Certified Veterinary Technician and continued to work at a thriving four doctor general practice in Belmont MA. She was promoted to technician supervisor in 1993 and stayed for a total of 10 years. Though she enjoyed her work Elaine chose to leave the general practice to continue to grow in her career and spent time pursuing other avenues of the veterinary field such as research and nuclear medicine at Radio Cat.

In April 2003 Elaine joined Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital where she worked in both Emergency/Critical Care and Internal Medicine before realizing her passion for surgery. Elaine transferred to Surgery and continued on in that department for 10 years. In 2011 she started working in both Surgery and Physical Therapy and the combination of the two positions allowed Elaine to play an integral role in bridging the departments together and encouraging collaboration in the hospital. During the thirteen years Elaine spent working side by side with board certified surgeons and the three years alongside certified canine rehabilitation specialists Elaine grew in her knowledge and skills in the fields of musculoskeletal injuries and rehabilitation therapy.

In November 2015 after completing the required coursework, testing, and internship hours at an outside animal rehabilitation facility in Hollis, NH, Elaine became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Assistant (CCRA) through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Florida. Elaine now works exclusively in the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Department where she uses her combined 25 years experience, veterinary technology degree, and CCRA training to provide exceptional care to her patients. In addition to her work in the rehabilitation field, surgery, and veterinary medicine Elaine enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and of course her adopted black Labrador, Rosie.
