Dr. Schmidt graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology. He then attended veterinary school at Cornell University, where he earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with highest honors in 2006. After practicing for a short time in Colorado, he returned to Cornell as a research assistant and education specialist where he worked to improve the veterinary curriculum. Dr. Schmidt then completed a three-year residency in radiology at Cornell University in July 2011.
During his residency, Dr. Schmidt learned to interpret diagnostic images from all modalities of veterinary radiology including radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Dr. Schmidt’s professional interests specifically include abdominal ultrasonography, radiography, and CT angiography to test for portosystemic shunting. Dr. Schmidt joined the IVG network of hospitals in September 2011.
