Department Hours:

Dr. Danielle Conway is a New England native who earned her bachelors degree in microbiology from the University of New Hampshire. With a strong interest in research and biology, she started her career as a bench scientist at a small biotech company. After several years of assay development, however, her love of animals and animal wellness led her to explore a career in veterinary medicine, which turned out to be her true passion.

Dr. Conway started her veterinary education working overnights as an emergency veterinary technician learning the tricks of the trade. This experience earned her acceptance into veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she endured several cold winters before graduating in 2013. Dr. Conway continued her veterinary training with a small animal rotating internship with a nutrition focus at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. During this year Dr. Conway’s interest and passion for veterinary nutrition and integrative medicine blossomed. She chose to specialize in these fields and completed an integrative medicine fellowship and then a nutrition residency both at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. As a result of these experiences Dr. Conway possesses outstanding clinical skills and is certified in veterinary acupuncture, canine rehabilitation, spinal manipulation (animal chiropractic), and has pending certification in Chinese herbal medicine. She is currently working to obtain status as a diplomat in the American College of Veterinary Nutrition.

Dr. Conway practices integrative veterinary medicine for ETHOS. She combines traditional veterinary medicine with evidence based holistic modalities to develop a customized plan for each patient that best addresses their unique needs. These plans draw on Dr. Conway’s internship and residency training and may include nutrition guidance, herbal supplementation, physical rehabilitation, chiropractic manipulation, acupuncture, and traditional Chinese medicine, each in balance with conventional western medicine. Above all, Dr. Conway strives to identify proactive regimens that enable patients to live vibrant, healthy lives for as long as possible.

This integrative approach is applicable to younger animals and those requiring resolution of specific conditions, such as neurologic conditions, pancreatitis, kidney disorders or diabetes as examples, but is also especially useful for geriatric animals, those with cancer and working through chemotherapy, animals requiring weight loss, animals recovering from surgery, and conditioning the canine athlete.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Conway is the mother to many furred, feathered, and scaly multi-legged characters and has recently welcomed a new family member, a beautiful baby girl. Together with her family, Dr. Conway enjoys being outdoors hiking or cruising on her mountain bike, practicing yoga, skiing, and riding vintage bicycles refurbished by her husband.

Danielle received her BS in Microbiology from University New Hampshire in 2005 and her DVM from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2013.  She then moved to North Carolina and went on to complete a rotating small internship with a nutrition focus at the North Carolina State University College in 2014.  In 2015 she attended the University of Tennessee for three years to do her Integrative Veterinary Medicine fellowship followed by her Nutrition Residency. She has since moved back to her home state of Massachusetts where she recently joined Mass Veterinary Referral Hospital.
